World practice of attracting investments into the national economy shows that foreign investments contribute to the process of modernization of countries with economies in transitional period and their integration into the global economic system. As a result of Ukraine's accession to the WTO the process of integration of our country in international investment and financial flows has become increasingly important.

Ukraine, as a potential object for investment, has attracted considerable interest from foreign investors, representing a market of 46 million consumers and occupying a strategically and geographically advantageous position in Europe.

Ukraine has the legislative framework in the sphere of regulation of investment activity, which is gradually progressing to reach a larger inflow of foreign investments and to increase the efficiency of their use.

The priority areas for attraction and support of strategic investors may be those where Ukraine has a traditional production, has the necessary resources potential and creates a significant market demand for the necessary product, namely: transport infrastructure and agriculture; production of cars and trucks, tractor and harvester combines production; aircraft building and rocket production; shipbuilding; vicious cycle of producing fuel for nuclear power plants; development of electricity generation capacities; oil and gas extraction, in particular on the Black Sea shelf; the introduction of resource-and energy-saving technologies.

It should be noted that there are about 300 large enterprises with fixed capital of more than 100 million US dollars, except small and medium enterprises, which are in the process of sale. Among them there are quite attractive objects, from an investment point of view. For example, oil refineries, producing oil and gas, power and supplying companies, enterprises of ferrous and nonferrous metallurgy, machine building and other industries.

In order to facilitate the search for effective investment objects and investors by the Government of Ukraine the Ukrainian Center for Foreign Investment promotion “InvestUkraine” was established.
